“Creativity takes courage.” – Henri Matisse

The Creators Compass: The Next Step

If you keep in touch with your CG artist friends, I hope you’re noticing some signs on the wall. We’re all from different backgrounds, different lives, different paths to get into this wild world of CG… but the story is the same.

What used to work, has stopped working.

Even the good advice seems… outdated.- Resumé’s get no response- Recruiters are giving advice at Lightbox for “jobs that don’t exist”- AI, Tax credits, shifting landscapes… on and on. This is not the time to be burying your head in the sand. Industries go through massive shake ups all the time and I want you to read what I am about to write very carefully.

If you’re determined to make it through this, you’re at the perfect part of the timeline where you can learn the skill of client acquisition at scale.

I’m talking about creating content about what you do. Harvey Newman, an animation director and game developer spoke with 3 other industry folks for 3 hours about this and I’ll summarize what they all agreed on:Creating content online about what they do gave them more opportunity than they could ever imagine.

This takes time. You’re going to be bad at first (like everyone else) but knowing that 99% will be too scared to even try will leave more of the pie for you to take.

Which leads me to the invitation I want to extend to you below for my December 14th Masterclass

Invite to a webinar filled with sauce

If you enjoyed the last masterclass, you’ll like this one even more. It’s packed with ideas most artists never hear, including:

• How to make recruiters genuinely excited to see your name in their inbox.

• How to attract clients who reach out to you first.

• How to build skillset authority, visibility, and real professional connections at the same time.

• Why the usual advice about “networking” holds artists back and what to do instead.

• Why “just be authentic” is useless guidance and how to actually show who you are.

• A grounded breakdown of whether to stay in the industry, leave, or carve a hybrid path.

This isn’t a magic fix for the industry.

If you’re the type of person who says, “I’m going to make this work,” you’ll fit right in.

If you’re committed to doing what you can with what you have, this will feel like home.

A quick note about fit.

When joining this live class it works best if you:

• Show up ready to participate.

• Ask questions!

• Care about understanding the why behind each step.

• Take notes instead of relying on a replay.

• Give your attention to the room even if you’re shy or introverted.

• Want to improve consistently rather than overnight.

If that feels like you, then welcome.

I’m excited to help you become the kind of applicant who rises to the top of any shortlist.

The system I’ll teach is simple, not easy.

If you want me to cover something specific, reply to this message and tell me. If you have questions before December 14th, reply and ask.

Share this with any CG friends who want a steadier path in the entertainment world. Animators, VFX artists, illustrators, concept artists… everyone’s welcome.
